Do I need Tutoring?
Tutoring is not just for children who are struggling, but also for bright students who want to learn. It is common knowledge that children learn best at a young age, why hold them back? We can foster what is being taught in the classroom to make sure it’s understood properly. Also, we can help extend on classroom lessons to better prepare for higher academic levels or personal interest.
We cover American, British and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula.
Effective pedagogy breeds effective individuals. Not only do we currently have several qualified teachers on staff, but can also offer a global search for the most appropriate tutor available for your child. If you think you require this service please refer to our Accelerated Excellance, “Acculance” programme. We believe in exploring different instructional methods to best meet the needs of your child as an individual. Every child is special and children often need individual attention that their regular teachers unfortunately cannot afford. Our tutors make use of their experience and academia to facilitate the learning process for your child using intriguing, creative and effective methods.
Power Tutoring was conceptualized in 2006, and has grown to establish itself at Knowledge Village in 2007. We offer Private tuition, small group tuition, independent interactive learning, intense exam revision and personal development courses. Our initial Assessments are free of charge. We provide trained tutors to educate your children.
Customized – Consistent – Commitment
Customized:
Defenition: To alter or create based on individual requirements or preference. [Oxford English Dictionary. 1989. 2nd ed. Oxford: Clarendon Press.]
That is why here at Power Tutoring we get to know our students academically, and personally, as this allows us to create individual lessons which are customised appropriately to your child’s specific learning needs and interests. Our private one-to-one lessons are adjusted specifically to meet the needs of your child.
Consistent:
Definition: Constantly adhering to the same principles, course and form; bonding stably together; [Oxford English Dictionary. 1989. 2nd ed. Oxford: Clarendon Press.]
That is why we consistently work as a partnership with our students, creating a stable environment in which our tutors and your child can bond for a positive learning experience. We ensure your child is partnered with a qualified tutor and work to accommodate your child’s schedule. Our guiding principles include being punctual and prompt and, on approval, our tutor will work with your child’s regular teacher’s to ensure areas needing reinforcement are covered.
Commitment:
Definition: The state of pledging oneself to a position; of obligating oneself as a pledge or an allegiance; of entrusting oneself to someone or something [Oxford English Dictionary. 1989. 2nd ed. Oxford: Clarendon Press.]
That is why we are committed to ensuring satisfaction and success in learning. With our lessons we pledge to offer a pedagogically friendly relationship with your child that ensures success in focused subjects. We want you to entrust the education of your child to us therefore we ensure availability of personal tutors for additional lessons during times of need for intensive study, such as during exam weeks.
We are different because we are committed and we are consistent. We also have the experience to know that not every child is the same therefore our lessons benefit from being customised.
We do not offer a regular in home tutoring service for the reason that by providing tuition on site at Knowledge Village our level of service is higher and the quality of education can be resourced to a greater extent. Since we do not tutor at home we are able to augment your child’s learning and provide all necessary facilities and learning materials including access to the library, computer use and supplementary training at no additional cost to you. We offer independent interactive learning which means that students can work on their own, and at their own pace, through our extensive self-directed learning software library. We also offer small group learning; some children prefer to work in a group of other children rather than by themselves. Unfortunately at this stage we do not provide transportation.
Preparation is the first step to success. To start your child off in the right direction, we offer a free assessment. Not only does the assessment allow us to understand your child’s needs, but it also allows us the opportunity to determine your child’s learning and study needs and characteristics. For every lesson, our punctual tutors will supply all necessary learning materials for prepared lessons tailored to suit the needs of the student.
After an initial free assessment of all our one-to-one students we customize their programmes to suit the individual student needs. We also seek to match the students with specific tutors according to their individual requirements and the tutor’s unique skills and personality.
